As part of the redesign, Explorer now offers two all-new high-powered trims. The athletic look of Explorer ST is more than sheet metal-deep. It’s matched by a powerful 400hp engine, a sport-tuned suspension and driving dynamics engineered by the Ford Performance team. The Explorer Hybrid packs a similar punch; it’s a no-compromise hybrid SUV that’s engineered for big adventures. Not only can it tow 5,000 pounds but it’s also fully off-road capable.

Feel confident that your occupants and your luggage are safe. With a towing capacity of 5,600 lbs (2,540 kg), when properly equipped, the Explorer shows no compromise. With three powerful engines, you can trust that your Explorer will get you to where your headed. Moving forward, standard trailer sway control adjusts braking and engine speed to maintain trailer control.

Even when towing large loads, the results are stable and controlled. Class III Trailer Tow Package is available with the 2.3L Ecoboost and 3.3L Hybrid engines. It also comes as a standard feature with Explorer equipped with the 3.0L Ecoboost engine.
