Seats that Move to Fit You
Available Multicontour seats with Active Motion® offer an added dose of comfort to the driver and front passenger. This feature allows you to easily position your seat in order to accommodate your preferences. Additionally, the Active Motion component offers five new massage themes for an isolated back massage that focuses on either the upper back, lower back or the pelvic region, helping prevent fatigue so you can stay fresh on long drives.
Michelin® Self-Sealing Tires
Self-sealing tires have a material on the inside of the tire that can seal punctures up to 6mm (1/4 inch) in diameter in the tread area.
Tri-Zone Climate Control
Tri-zone climate control lets you personalize the comfort level in all three rows with individualized temperature settings. Separate climate zones for the driver and front passenger plus one for the back-seat passengers create a cozy ride for everyone inside.
Cargo Space
Explorer delivers when you need configurable cargo space. With the second- and third-row seats in the upright position, you have seating for 6 standard plus enough cargo space to haul the essentials. If you need more room, Explorer provides up to 2,483 litres of cargo space behind the first row.

Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System™ can help tackle any adventure through a single easy-to-use dial in the centre console. Its seven selectable drive modes includes Normal, Trail, Deep Snow/Sand, Slippery, Sport, Tow/Haul and new Eco mode that each come with special 3D animated graphics in the new available 12.3” digital cluster. And with standard Intelligent 4WD there’s also the added benefit of enhanced control on your day-to-day commute, especially when conditions are rough.
Available 3.0L EcoBoost® Engine
As the backbone of the ST and Platinum powertrains, the available 3.0L EcoBoost® engine takes the athletic feel of the Explorer a step further. By using turbocharging and direct injection, the Platinum powertrain generates a projected 365 horsepower plus 380 lb.-ft. of torque. The ST, however, combines this muscular engine with twin turbos for a powertrain like nothing before it. With 400 hp plus 415 lb.-ft. of torque the 2020 ST is the most powerful Explorer ever.
10-Speed Transmission
The new standard 10-speed transmission makes transitioning between speeds a more efficient process, resulting in smooth upshifts and downshifts. Compared to a 6-speed, the 10-speed delivers improved overall performance, with enhanced acceleration at the low and mid ranges of the power band.

Active Park Assist 2.0
Available Active Park Assist 2.0 helps make it easy to nail an impressive park time after time – even in tight parallel or perpendicular spots. With the push of a button, it will detect an appropriate parking spot and let you know when to stop and put the car in Neutral. Once you’re there, all you have to do is hold the Active Park Assist button for the duration of the park; the system does the rest. This feature also offers park out assist with side-sensing capability so you can confidently navigate out of a spot when someone’s parked too close to you.
